Plague

A contagious bacterial zoonotic disease transmitted from infected animals to humans; it mainly affects wild rodents and usually spreads through flea bites or direct contact with infected animals.

Symptoms

Sudden fever, chills, headache, exhaustion and severe fatigue.

Incubation period

1 to 7 days, and less in pneumonic plague.

Prevention

No vaccination; avoid contact with rodents and fleas and observe personal hygiene.
